SUSTAINABILITY

CLIMATE CHANGE

The high frequency of droughts in recent years have impacted the agriculture production. Irrigation technology acts as a key element to mitigate this risk. It provides the necessary stability, for the model to be sustainable in the long run.

WATER

In Uruguay Bearing Agro captures water from rainfall, stores it in large reservoirs, and distributes it to the crops through pivots.

In Paraguay Bearing Agro uses the water of the Yrenda Aquifer to irrigate pastures and crops. The water of the Yrenda aquifer, wich is an underground river, moves to the east of Paraguay and becomes salty a few kilometers east .The water becomes then inproper for consumption and production purposes.

CARBON BALANCE

In Paraguay the model is combining the production of grains, with pastures for cattle fattening. The forest areas (50% of total area is kept in native forest) are the most efficient mechanism to offset the emissions generated. The balance between emissions and sequestration shows a significant carbon capture situation.

FOOD SECURITY

Regenerative agriculture combined with state-of-the-art irrigation systems allows to improve yields in a sustainable way, on lands that were previously underexploited, with a true sustainable approach. Better productivity and enlarged footprint will provide world markets with high and predictable quality products.
